Welcome to day 10 of your #CreatingJoyChallenge – Eat Clean & Green

Have you ever heard that phrase, “You are what you eat?” I used to laugh at that statement, but there is so much truth to that. The food you eat completely impacts the way you feel and function everyday. So today we are going to focus on eating live whole foods to energize you and keep you feeling great!

I’m not saying that everyone should be vegetarian or vegan. That lifestyle is incredible for many, no doubt! It is however, recommended that EVERYONE eat 70% ‘raw’ everyday meaning 70% of the foods you eat should be live whole foods uncooked and fresh. Obviously, this is a process. There have been so many times I’ve tried to go cold turkey cutting every bad food out of my lifestyle and eating 100% clean, and honestly, it’s hard and can be very discouraging. Start simple and allow your lifestyle shift over time.

For today, make sure you are either adding veggies into each meal or plan one meal that is over 70% ‘raw’. 

So many people ask me how do I get veggies into my breakfast?? and this question is TOTALLY understandable because we live in a country where the typical breakfast is practically dessert… Breakfast has actually become my favorite healthy meal of the day. We’re talking, smoothies, clean juices, creative smoothie / yogurt bowls, omelets, the list goes on and on… The options are endless when it comes to lunch and dinner as well. Have fun with this and you will enjoy your food. Eating healthy can be fun and enjoyable with the right perspective. 🙂 It’s not about ‘going on a diet‘ but actually adding wonderful good food into your life.

Start a ‘healthy eating’ board on Pinterest and start to look for healthy recipes. There are loads of amazing recipes in Pinterest and you can get so many good ideas. Be aware that not everything that is labeled ‘healthy’ is good live whole foods and won’t always count as your 70% ‘raw’. Find recipes with fresh veggies and fruits used and start to create a board with those ideas and recipes.
