Welcome to day 7 of your #CreatingJoyChallenge – Be StillĀ and Meditate

GOOD JOB for making it this far, you are halfway through the challenge! I hope you have implemented the things we’ve talked about and you’ve already started to see some improvements in your life.

Today’s challenge might be something you already know and love, but for many of you this is something that is very new and even a little bit foreign. Meditation is a hugely beneficial practice to anyone who uses it. Many of the most successful people in our time spend at least 10-20 minutes sitting still to get centered and ready for the day ahead.

Meditation can help you to have more peace and inner strength, feel less anxious feelings and be generally more centered and grounded. Many find answers they are seeking while meditating or feel they are more easily able to feel inspired or guided while meditating. Meditating can help you to clear your mind and focus more easily on the other things you need to get done in your life. Those that don’t meditate typically reason that they don’t have the timeĀ to meditate, and those who do meditate claim to feel they have more time in their lives because they meditate.

Starting to implement a Meditation practice doesn’t necessarily mean going out to buy a meditation cushion, mala beads and chimes… Although those are things that can be very helpful for those wanting to deepen their practice in meditation, it is more about finding a quiet space where you can be still and breathe for a moment. Even 5 minutes of stillness is proven to be hugely beneficial.

Try it out

  • Find a peaceful quiet place.
  • Sit in a comfortable position – on the floor or on a chair with your feet resting on the floor.
  • Turn on a timer or a meditation app to help you be mindful of the time.
  • Close your eyes and relax your muscles.
  • Breathe slowly and count your breath.
  • Go until the timer sounds.
